Are you looking for someone who can support you and your partner through labor? A doula provides emotional and physical support, bringing with her a wealth of knowledge and experience that can help you navigate your way through this journey. Doulas do not provide clinical care or make decisions for you. It’s important that you find someone you feel comfortable with so call a few doulas and go with your heart. ICAN: The International Cesarean Awareness Network

ICAN is a non-profit organization with a three-fold purpose:

  1. To lower the rising cesarean rate through education,
  2. To provide a forum where women and men can express their thoughts and concerns about birth, and
  3. To provide a support network for women who are healing from past birth experiences and for those who are preparing for births.

This group is for the benefit of birthing women in the Sarasota-Bradenton area. If you are recovering from a cesarean, planning a VBAC, searching for care providers, or planning an upcoming birth or pregnancy, and want information to prevent cesareans and have a healthier, more positive experience or learn more about birth, ICAN welcomes you!
